My name is Dave Nolin. I have lived my entire 53 years near Dayton Ohio. Since childhood I have been fascinated with trees and forests (not to mention prairies, wetlands, and streams). I've spent a lot of time walking in our local forests, observing what is happening to them, and reading historical and scientific information about them.
I feel the need to start this forum because it seems the forests of southwest Ohio (at least) are in trouble. A storm of things has happened and is happening to them that is unprecedented, mostly because of changes brought about by us humans. However, the purpose of this blog is not to be a Chicken Little, but rather to help people learn how they can do something to help local trees and forests.
The first several posts will be a history of local forests spotlighting factors that established them and factors that have changed them. After that, what we can do.
